Winning Entries in 2010 International Photography Awards

Amidst the gloomy outlook over the past few days (being down with flu and all) I received some good news which cheered me up a little. I submitted 4 images for the International Photography Awards (IPA) a few months back, of which 2 of them received Honorable Mention! Obviously it is disappointing not to get the top prizes but considering there were nearly 15,000 submissions from 103 countries across the globe. Coming up against so many top photographers worldwide and appearing in the honorable mention list ain’t too shabby anymore if you ask me :)

IPA is a sister-effort of the Lucie Foundation, where the top three winners are announced at the annual Lucie Awards gala ceremony. The Foundation’s mission is to honor master photographers, to discover new and emerging talent and to promote the appreciation of photography. Since 2003, IPA has had the privilege and opportunity to acknowledge and recognize contemporary photographers’ accomplishments in this specialized and highly visible competition. Destination . Paris

My wife and I have decided to embark on our 2nd honeymoon to Paris, in May 2010 & we would like to invite you lovebirds to walk down the streets of Old Paris with us, as we breathe in the romance and capture the charms of one of the most lovely city in the world.

We are offering a fantastic package for couples who wish to have their Bridal / Casual Portrait Sessions in the City of Lights. How fantastic you might ask? Well, let’s just say that, since we are going there with or without you, the photographer’s airfare is pretty much out of the equation. Sounds good? Well it is! haha

Do note though that slots are limited as we are taking up a maximum of 3 couples only at the end of our personal trip, with the photoshoot dates estimated to be between 15 – 18 May.

There is something about the pearl of the orient that keeps me intrigued and urges me to go back again and again….

it’s definitely not the shopping for me (more for wifey)

maybe it’s the character of the streets and architecture…

or it could be the people…

it could well be the food too, oh the food… wonderful mango deserts, delicious (unhealthy) roadside stalls bites, tim sum…

Whatever it is… I wanna go back again. This time, I wanna see much more than a usual tourist would and I want to capture hong kong with even better equipments! (the shots above were taken sometime back and are not taken on my current DSLRs and L lenses)

I am planning to go again in August when there aren’t that many ADs to cover (which also would be a good time for my wife to do a LITTLE shopping as it is their GRAND SALE period). I might even extend my stay past the usual one week this time round, because with a little bit of luck, my stay in HK might coincide with Joho’s Hong Kong Bridal Promotion. If we are there around the same time, I will surely stay and help him out with the bridal shoots, maybe even chip in with a shot or 2! haha (oh ya.. if anyone’s interested in an August Bridal/Pre-Wedding Shoot in HONG KONG by Master Photographer jOhO, please email to inquiry@expressivelyjoho.com)

Now that my holiday plans are out… I am gonna go grab some food from the fridge. Thinking of HK makes me hungry! muahahahaha
